WHAT are Chewie Tubes?
Chewie Tubes are used to train facial and chewing muscles. Chewy tubes are also used as “dry training” to train chewing movements in a safe way without the risk of injury. The Chewy Tubes were originally developed for the “Jaw Rehabilitation Program”. This is a patented method offered by Speech Pathology Associates, LLC to train jaw movements for biting and chewing in a therapeutic setting.
The Chewy Tubes provide a safe, non-toxic way to develop biting and chewing skills.
The Chewy Tubes are available in 4 fun and attractive colors:

WHO CAN USE THEM?
Chewy Tubes are offered to children and adults as a safe and effective tool for practicing chewing and biting skills.
Therapeutic use: Chewy Tubes can be used for the treatment of initial oral motor skills or to rehabilitate after facial surgery, trauma, stroke or similar.
Private use: Children and adolescents who like to chew on objects to regulate their nervous system (to calm down). To break harmful habits such as pacifiers, thumb sucking, fingernail biting, pen chewing, chewing on clothing, etc.
LOGICANIC hint: Observe your child/yourself closely: what do you or your child prefer to chew with? With the molars? With the incisors? Due to their shape, the Chevy Tubes are also great for reaching the molars!
Cleaning: The best way to clean the Chewy Tubes is with warm water and a little soap. Dishwasher safe up to 75 degrees (top shelf)
NOTE: Not recommended for children under 3 years. Chewy Tubes should always be used under supervision Patients should follow the recommendations of their therapist or caregiver when using Chewy Tubes. The best results are always achieved in conjunction with supervision by your doctor or therapist.

This may vary by brand of thickener, but in general if you're using thickened liquids, "nectar" consistency works fine. "Honey" is a bit harder to suck through the straw, but it does work.
